28 Days of Black Futures Returns with Powerful Documentary Series!

Join us for an intimate look at Baltimore’s legacy of activism through four groundbreaking documentaries featuring local changemakers. From grassroots organizing to artistic expression, these films by Sean Yoes, CLLCTIVLY’s Distinguished Journalist in Residence and The Black River Film Project, capture the spirit of leaders shaping our city’s future: Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, Senator Jill P. Carter, Joyce J. Scott, and. William H. “Billy” Murphy Jr.

Throughout the month, we’ll feature in-depth looks at these remarkable narratives defining Baltimore’s ongoing journey toward positive change. Experience their stories at a special screening on March 2 at the SNF Parkway Theatre.

SEAN YOES, DIRECTOR

Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence

Sean Yoes, a native of West Baltimore, has worked in television, film, and newspapers during a career in media, which has spanned more than 30 years. He has been honored for his work by Baltimore City Paper, Baltimore Magazine, the Baltimore Sun, the Association of Black Media Workers, the National Newspaper Publishers Association and the Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C. Press Association. He is the former Baltimore editor and columnist for the AFRO American Newspapers. Yoes is also the author of, ‘Baltimore After Freddie Gray: Real Stories From One of America’s Great Imperiled Cities.” He is the founder of The Black River Film Project, a production company focused on instructing, inspiring, and platforming the next generation of West Baltimore storytellers.
