Baltimore, MD — CLLCTIVLY, a place-based social change organization, each year curates 28 Days of Black Futures – a narrative power campaign to amplify and mobilize resources for Black-led social change organizations in Baltimore. This year’s content for this annual campaign is the documentary series, Baltimore’s Legacy of Black Liberation and Activism, to be viewed via a private screening on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 10am – 7pm at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Parkway Theatre (SNF Parkway Theatre).

There are four films in the series created by Baltimore based creators to tell the raw stories of four major change agents in Baltimore – Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle (grassroots Think-Tank), William H. “Billy” Murphy, Jr., Esquire (noted Attorney), Joyce J. Scott (award-winning Artist) and Sen. Jill P. Carter (Politician). Each documentary provides an up close look of how each of these individuals utilize their voices and tremendous gifts to impact the lives of Baltimore residents every day.

“The thought behind creating these documentaries was to capture the essence of Baltimore’s ongoing struggle for justice and self-determination,” says Jamye Wooten, founder of CLLCTIVLY. “We’re not just documenting their work – we’re preserving a crucial chapter in Baltimore’s story of Black activism and leadership. These are the narratives that inspire future generations and remind us of the power of collective action in creating lasting change. We are honored to feature the work of Sean Yoes, CLLCTIVLY’s Distinguished Journalist in Residence.”

Sean Yoes, Filmmaker and CLLCTIVLY’s Distinguished Journalist in Residence, pointed out that “two universal themes emerged as we told the stories of these dynamic visionaries: their unwavering commitment  to the liberation of Black people and the urgency in which they operate in fulfilling their mission … Historically, Baltimore’s Black community was a vanguard Black American community for more than a century. The subjects of these four films perpetuate and add to that brilliant legacy.”
