The mission of The City Weeds Urban Farming Youth Achievement Program: #BeMoreGreen to engage, train and empower youth (ages 12+), through the creation and sustaining of ‘micro-businesses’ related to urban farming & the food industry.
Led by national advocate and local agricultural leader, Farmer Nell, City Weeds targets communities that have been impacted by trauma, and that have been designated as Food Deserts by the USDA; Through the engagement of local stakeholders and partners, the City Weeds Youth Achievement Program: #BeMoreGreen trains local youth and young adults to start, grow and sustain enterprises that enrich the city’s land, community, and people.
The Black Church Food Security Network partners Black farmers and urban growers with historically African American congregations to create pipelines for fresh produce from "soil to sanctuary."
