Movies have a way of showing you were you’ve been, where you are and where you want to be. Next Act Cinema wants to recognize the extraordinary talents of the young filmmakers we have met in the DMV over the past year and commends your passion for storytelling. We want to support your efforts in every way possible and encourage you to imagine big and unlock the artist in you.

At Next Act Cinema we believe in the magic of movies. Ever since we opened the doors to Next Act Cinema over a year ago we had a big dream to highlight talented young people all over the DMV by showing their short film on our big screen. We would like to announce a short film contest. A short film is an excellent calling card for a first-time film maker or a fun project for a writer who has a message or story to share (we are in time where stories can have a powerful meaning). We are looking for a touching message or short film that can captivate and move an audience.

Your mission if you choose to accept it: Write a seven-minute screenplay. In short films, typically one page equals one minute. We want you to be creative and film it from your point of view. Be simple, clear, compelling and concise. After all you only have seven minutes.
