Tubman House formed to address issues experienced by the residents of dis-invested Baltimore neighborhoods and by engaging communities to create healthy, whole, and stable communities. The mission of the Tubman House shall be to empower and support community members in Sandtown-Winchester and surrounding communities in their collective efforts to revitalize residential neighborhoods, while involving current residents, residents’ family in or returning from detention or prison, homeowners, property owners, renters, public housing tenants, business owners and institutions within communities. The Tubman House serves as a vehicle through which residents work together to solve problems and improve life in the community, and provide a support system for community members in the prison system as they re-enter society.
