The PLSW Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to a transformative mission of promoting academic excellence by equipping elementary and middle school students with essential literacy resources, enriching cultural experiences, and academic support; including books, reading clubs, and joyful initiatives. We are especially committed to intentionally supporting students within our local partner network: Baltimore City Public/Charter Elementary and Middle Schools. The PLSW Foundation, Inc. was formed out of the pain and passion subsequent to the loss of dearly beloved Porsha LaVon Stokes Williams (who was an extraordinarily devoted, compassionate and adept educator for the youth scholars in the Baltimore City Public Schools), and with the intentional purpose of continuing her legacy and love of literacy, teaching, promoting, and encouraging academic excellence to students by providing exposure, experience and resources necessary for success and resources essential to encourage, promote and achieve a culture of academic excellence. The PLSW Foundation, Inc. envisions a community where every child has access to books, essential resources, and the support needed to cultivate a love of reading while encouraging and promoting academic excellence. We strive to make literacy a shared community responsibility, ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have the opportunity to grow, learn, develop, and thrive.
